April 30, 2026
£29 - £39 / hour

Job Description

Are you a dedicated, experienced Children’s Social Worker looking to make a meaningful difference for children and families in Central Bedfordshire? This is an exciting opportunity to join the Family Help Team at Central Bedfordshire Council — a Good and award-winning local authority on an ambitious journey towards Outstanding.

Working within the Family Help service, you will support children from the assessment stage onwards, building lasting relationships with families and driving positive, sustainable change. You will carry a varied caseload encompassing Child in Need, Child Protection, and court work, applying a range of social work theories and models to deliver imaginative, ambitious interventions.

Key responsibilities include managing a diverse caseload, completing direct work with children to understand their views and lived experiences, chairing multi-agency meetings, and producing high-quality assessments and reports. Court experience is essential.

You must hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have at least five years’ post-qualifying experience within children’s services. Strong verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people are vital.

The role is hybrid — based from home and CBC offices including Priory House, Shefford and Grove View, Dunstable — 37 hours per week. The rate ranges from £29.28 to £39.00 per hour depending on experience. Please note that references must be uploaded to Matrix for review before an interview will be offered.
