Job Description

Are you an experienced Childrens Social Worker looking for your next locum opportunity in Cheshire? We have an exciting opening based at Delamere House, Crewe (CW1 2JZ), offering a competitive rate of £39.00 per hour.

This role sits within Cheshire East’s Children’s Services and requires a dedicated, child-focused practitioner ready to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families. You will hold a varied caseload, working in line with statutory frameworks to assess risk, support families, and safeguard children in need of protection or support.

Key responsibilities will include undertaking assessments, attending and contributing to statutory reviews, engaging with children and their families, and working collaboratively with multi-agency partners. An enhanced DBS check covering both children’s and adults’ barred lists is required for this post.

To be considered, you will hold a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England, and have post-qualifying experience in a children’s statutory setting. Strong recording skills, the ability to manage a busy caseload, and a commitment to relationship-based practice are essential.

This is a locum position commencing 1st June 2026, with no fixed end date, providing excellent longer-term stability. The role is based on-site at Delamere House, Floor 7, Crewe.
