Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Best Interest Assessor (BIA) to join the Adults Safeguarding Team at Denbighshire County Council, based at County Hall, Ruthin.

This team is dedicated to fulfilling Denbighshire’s statutory safeguarding duties, implementing effective legislative processes that support individuals to acknowledge positive risk-taking, protect them from harm, and achieve their desired outcomes. You will be joining an enthusiastic, welcoming, and supportive team environment.

As BIA, you will be responsible for undertaking Best Interest Assessments under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) legislation. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, for an initial period of three months, with a rate of £33.00–£44.39 per hour. The post commences 11 May 2026.

Face-to-face working within Denbighshire is required, with office space available in Ruthin or Rhyl as needed. Please note that candidates must be registered with Social Care Wales, or have a clear willingness to register, in order to comply with Welsh regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates will hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Care Wales (or Social Work England with willingness to transfer), and hold a current BIA qualification. Experience in DoLS, safeguarding adults, and complex capacity assessments is essential.
