April 24, 2026
£29 - £39 / hour

Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified Social Worker to join Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Children’s Services division, based across various offices within the borough including Woodfieldside, Ty Gilfach, Ty Pontygwindy, and Rhymney.

This role sits within a well-structured directorate and offers the chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of children, young people, and their families. You will deliver high-quality social work services in line with statutory requirements, undertaking assessments and care management for children and families requiring ongoing intervention. Work may span child protection, children in need, looked-after children, or fostering, depending on the team you are placed with.

Key responsibilities include completing thorough assessments using agreed frameworks including Working Together to Safeguard Children, developing outcome-focused intervention plans, maintaining accurate case records, and reviewing plans within statutory timescales. You will represent the service at court and panel meetings, provide written reports and statements, and work collaboratively across health, education, police, and other partner agencies. For those placed within the Fostering Team, responsibilities also include recruiting, training, assessing, and supporting foster carers in line with the Fostering Recruitment and Retention Strategy.

Candidates must hold a Diploma or Degree in Social Work and be registered with Social Care Wales (or an equivalent UK regulatory body). Experience of child protection, assessment work, and multi-agency working is essential. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use is required. Welsh language skills are desirable.

This is an interim role paying £29.30–£38.66 per hour (via umbrella), available from 4 May 2026. For more information or to apply, please get in touch with our team today.
