Job Description

An interim Senior Estate Surveyor opportunity has arisen with the London Borough of Lambeth, based at 6 Brixton Hill, SW2 1RW. The role sits within the Valuation and Strategic Assets (VASA) team, part of the Climate and Inclusive Growth division, reporting to the Head of Asset Management with line management responsibility for up to five staff and oversight of external contractor frameworks.

VASA advises the Council on opportunities to exploit the underlying value of its property assets through lettings, disposals and acquisitions, delivering capital, revenue and social-value benefits, and leads the Council’s Strategic Asset Management Framework (SAMF).

Key responsibilities include managing commercial lease events (renewals, rent reviews, expiries and breaks), overseeing estate compliance and maintenance, managing property agents and contractors, supporting strategic disposals to feed the capital pipeline, and maximising revenue through third-party lettings. The postholder will assist on major regeneration projects involving joint ventures, land swaps, CPO and other complex transactional work, support dilapidations claims management, and contribute to carbon-reduction initiatives across the estate.

Candidates must hold a degree and a relevant professional qualification (RICS), with extensive knowledge of estate and asset management in a local authority context, proven staff management experience including professionally qualified teams, and experience commissioning and managing consultants.
