Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join the Urgent Response OT Team at Barnet Council, based in Colindale, NW9. This is a busy community-facing role covering the whole London Borough of Barnet, paying £25.01–£34.31 per hour. Start date: 10 August 2026.
The team specialises in Occupational Therapy and Moving and Handling Risk Assessments for high-priority referrals, including: manual handling cases where existing equipment is absent or no longer appropriate; high risk of physical injury to carers; safeguarding concerns relating to equipment or manual handling; clients at immediate risk due to unsafe transfers; unrepairable or unreplaceable equipment; requests for increased double-handed care; and palliative cases not covered by Continuing Health Care or the North London Hospice.
You will work one day per week as duty OT alongside your caseload. Excellent manual handling skills and the ability to work autonomously are essential — these are core to the role. A car driver is preferable given the borough-wide coverage.
The team is small, proactive, and positive, with monthly supervision and day-to-day support provided. You must be a genuine team player who thrives in a pressured, fast-paced environment.
To be considered you must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). If you are interested, please get in touch today.
