Job Description

Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs? Rochdale Borough Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join their Short Breaks Service on a temporary basis from 24 August to 2 October 2026, based in Rochdale (OL16 1XU) at £40 per hour via XMS.

In this key role you will provide professional leadership, support, and guidance to Social Workers and practitioners, ensuring high-quality assessments and interventions. You will work closely with families, partners, and communities to develop creative, strengths-based solutions that enable children and young people with disabilities and additional needs to thrive.

You will bring significant post-qualifying experience, a strong working knowledge of disability, short breaks, safeguarding, and relevant legislation, and demonstrable skills in coaching, mentoring, and supporting professional practice. A commitment to relationship-based and strengths-focused approaches is essential.

Candidates must be a Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. Two years of references are required, with gaps in employment history checked and relevant qualifications verified in line with the job description and person specification.
