Childrens Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team – #000B44271

August 6, 2026
£35 - £35 / hour

Job Description

Manchester City Council is seeking a qualified social worker to join the Children with Disabilities Team, based at Etrop Court in Wythenshawe, South Manchester. This is a full-time, office-based role (with home working at the team manager’s discretion) paying £35 per hour, running from 7 September 2026 to 8 March 2027.

You will join an experienced team of four social workers, two advanced practitioners, and a team manager, working with children who have disabilities and complex needs across all stages of intervention — CIN, CP, and CLA. The role includes assessing for appropriate packages of care including short break eligibility. Free parking is available nearby.

This is a particularly exciting time to join, as the service is a test and learn site for the Families First Reforms. You will have access to training and regular, supportive supervision within a team focused on resilience and shared identity.

Requirements include Social Work England registration, five years of references, and gaps in employment history will be checked. Suppliers must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions and attach the completed file to the candidate record prior to submission — applications that do not pass these questions will not be progressed.
