Childrens Social Worker – Assessment and Intervention Team – #OR103641

May 29, 2026
£29 - £38 / hour

Job Description

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join its Assessment and Intervention Team on a locum basis, paid under the All Wales Pledge (£28.70–£38.43 per hour). The role commences 2 July 2026 and is based at 31 Chester Street, Wrexham, LL13 8BG.

You will manage an allocated caseload covering routine social work interventions, escalating complex cases as required. Core duties include Section 47 enquiries, comprehensive assessments, care and support planning, and contributing to a duty rota — responding promptly and proportionately to immediate crisis referrals.

The role supports practitioners in consolidating post-qualification skills through mentoring and management supervision, with progression towards greater complexity and independent decision-making. You will work in partnership with families, carers, and multi-agency colleagues to ensure plans are evidence-based, recorded, reviewed, and modified appropriately.

Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work Wales (or Social Work England). Experience in children’s assessment and intervention, including S47 and duty work, is essential. To find out more or register your interest, please get in touch with the Semester team today.
