Job Description
Wakefield Children in Care Service is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join a dedicated team supporting looked-after children and those subject to care proceedings. This is a temporary assignment running from 10 August to 12 October 2026, paying £35 per hour.
You will hold a caseload of looked-after children and some children subject to care proceedings, undertaking statutory duties in line with the Children Act 1989. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing care plans that promote stability, permanency, and positive outcomes; working closely with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to ensure holistic support; and preparing high-quality reports for court and attending hearings as required.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience in a children’s looked-after or children in care setting. Experience of court work and care proceedings is essential.
