Job Description

Join Birmingham Children’s Trust as a Senior Social Worker in the Child Protection Inquiry Team, based in Aston on an initial 3-month agency contract. This fast-paced, short-term service completes Section 47 enquiries and 15-day Section 17 assessments before transferring cases to longer-term teams, with participation in a duty rota every four weeks for new safeguarding referrals. Caseloads are kept deliberately low, typically three to four children per worker, allowing focus on timely, high-quality assessments. You’ll need strong safeguarding experience, confidence completing Section 47 enquiries, the ability to work independently, and access to a car for statutory home visits across Birmingham. The team offers hybrid working with two office days per week, free on-site parking, a structured induction, supportive experienced management, and access to free CPD training to support your Social Work England registration.
