Job Description
Somerset Council is seeking two experienced Social Workers to join the Family Safeguarding South Somerset team on bespoke six-month posts, focusing on Child in Need work to prevent escalation by intervening earlier and intensively with families. You will support children and families already subject to Child in Need plans, undertaking direct work with children to hear their voice and understand their experiences. Working alongside adult-focussed practitioners within the Family Safeguarding model, you’ll access specialist advice in substance misuse, domestic abuse and mental health, plus expertise from the CE (WAVE) child exploitation team. Manageable caseloads support creative, relationship-based practice, with regular reflective supervision from permanent Team Managers and Consultant Social Workers. Candidates must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England for at least three years, with experience of children and families work. Based in Yeovil, working from the office three days a week; a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this rural area.
