Job Description

Barnsley Children’s Services is seeking Lead Child Protection Practitioners to provide specialist expertise in safeguarding and child protection, supporting social workers and managers with complex casework. You will chair and contribute to strategy discussions, provide professional challenge where required, oversee child protection processes, mentor and develop practitioners, and promote high standards of practice to keep children safe. The role involves working collaboratively with partner agencies, supporting quality assurance and practice improvement, and ensuring statutory responsibilities are met in line with legislation, policy and best practice guidance. Initially, as the phased implementation of reforms progresses, post holders will hold a small complex caseload. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, qualified social worker with strong child protection expertise to make a real impact in a specialist practice leadership role.
