Job Description
Leeds City Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Advanced Practitioner based in South Leeds (LS10/LS11), with free parking available. This is a 37-hour-per-week role paying £32.50 per hour, running from 27 July to 9 August 2026.
You will manage a complex caseload spanning Child and Family Assessments, Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Proceedings through to permanence. The role carries lead worker responsibilities alongside other social workers, but does not include supervisory or line management duties. A restorative, child-centred approach is central to this post — you will practise relationally with children and families, promoting family-led decisions to manage risk and meet support needs.
Key requirements include strong analytical assessment skills, high-quality written work, and the ability to engage children directly. You must be well organised and capable of managing competing demands to maintain practice standards. You will work as part of a busy but supportive team, contributing to a positive learning culture.
The role is primarily office-based for duty weeks, with hybrid working negotiable on non-duty weeks (one WFH or compressed-hours day). A valid driving licence and access to a car are essential, as is a clean DBS.
If you are a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and ready to bring your expertise to a supportive South Leeds team, please get in touch.
