Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Adults Social Worker to join Middlesbrough Borough Council’s Access Team. This is a duty-based role, triaging new referrals and undertaking initial assessments for adults referred to Adult Social Care. The team of 15 comprises qualified social workers and unqualified social care workers, managed by Claire Nightscales with support from an Assistant Team Manager, and is backed by a dedicated admin team. Applicants must hold an enhanced DBS and have a minimum of two years’ post-qualifying experience. The role operates on a blended working basis, requiring a minimum of two full days at the Fountain Court office base plus urgent home visits as needed, and participation in the team’s duty rota. Working hours are 8.30am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am-4.30pm Friday, with some flexibility around case work demands. A structured induction, buddy support, and monthly supervision from the Team Manager or Assistant Team Manager are provided.
