Job Description
Denbighshire County Council is seeking an experienced Adults Senior Social Worker to join its Adult Social Care and Housing service, based in Rhyl, Denbighshire (LL18 3ND). This is a locum role paying £33.00–£44.39 per hour via Prism, starting 10 August 2026.
Working within a strengths-based, outcome-focused framework underpinned by the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, you will hold a complex, varied caseload of adults and their families, providing high-quality social work across assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and review. You will respond to safeguarding concerns in line with the Wales Safeguarding Procedures 2019, chair Best Interests Meetings and multidisciplinary reviews, and contribute to strategy meetings and case conferences.
At senior level, you will act as a practice lead — offering guidance and mentorship to Social Care Practitioners on less complex cases, supporting good recording standards, and participating in the duty system rota as required. You will work collaboratively with health, third-sector, and emergency service partners to deliver integrated responses.
Essential requirements: a recognised social work qualification (Degree in Social Work or DipSW equivalent), registration with Social Care Wales as a social worker, and demonstrable experience with complex adult cases and safeguarding procedures. For those qualified from 2012, attainment of the CPEL Consolidation Programme is required. The ability to travel across Denbighshire is essential; a DBS check is required.
