Job Description

Are you a qualified Social Worker looking for your next role in children’s services? Sefton Council has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Children’s Social Worker based at Trinity Road, Bootle, Merseyside, with a start date of 11 May 2026.

This is a hands-on frontline role within children’s social care, where you will carry a caseload of children and families, undertaking assessments, supporting child protection processes, and working with looked-after children and those in need. You will be part of a wider children’s services team committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people across the Sefton area.

Key responsibilities will include conducting child and family assessments, attending and contributing to child protection conferences, maintaining accurate and timely case records, working collaboratively with partner agencies, and supporting families through court processes where required.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England, and have demonstrable post-qualifying experience in a children’s social care setting. Strong assessment and report-writing skills are essential.

The role is offered on a locum basis at a competitive rate of £22.38–£29.35 per hour. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to children’s lives in a supportive local authority setting.
