Job Description

An exciting locum opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Blackburn with Darwen Council on a temporary, full-time basis at £30 per hour, starting as soon as possible through to the end of July 2026.

Based at 10 Duke Street, Blackburn, you will deliver essential community-based assessments and interventions for adults requiring equipment provision, minor adaptations, and major home adaptations to support their independence and well-being.

Key responsibilities include conducting thorough community assessments within a local authority setting, identifying needs and recommending standard and specialist equipment, planning and facilitating minor and major home adaptations to enhance safety and functionality, collaborating with clients, families, and other professionals to develop individualised support plans, and maintaining accurate records in line with professional and legal standards.

Candidates must hold current HCPC registration and a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy, alongside demonstrated experience working within a local authority or community setting. Proficiency in manual handling assessments and a strong working knowledge of equipment provision and home adaptation processes are essential. Excellent communication and organisational skills are equally important.
