Job Description

Sefton MBC is seeking a Social Care Qualified Youth Justice Case Manager to join their Youth Justice Service in Bootle, Merseyside. This is a temporary role paying £20.88–£27.35 per hour, starting 3 August 2026.

You will form part of Sefton’s Youth Justice Service, working in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies to prevent children from entering the criminal justice system and supporting those who do to make positive change. You will hold responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, managing risk and vulnerability, and ensuring public protection while supporting individuals to build a more promising future.

Key responsibilities include assessing and analysing the needs of children and their families, devising intervention plans and packages of support, preventing offending behaviour, reducing risk of serious harm, and engaging with hard-to-reach children and families. This post may include supervision of student placements and is accountable to the Operational Youth Justice Manager(s).

Candidates must hold a recognised professional qualification in Social Work, Probation Studies (DipPS), Youth and Community Work (Dip HE), or a relevant youth/criminal justice degree, together with significant post-qualification experience in youth justice and safeguarding children. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and practice, and experience of multi-agency collaboration, are essential.
