Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner to join a specialist Fostering team based in Colindale, North West London. This is a meaningful role at the heart of securing permanence and stability for children who cannot live with their birth families.

Working within a children’s social care setting, you will bring a confident, skilled approach to assessing and supporting kinship carers and special guardians. The role requires direct experience of completing the full range of kinship assessments, including Viability Assessments, Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments, and Connected Carer assessments.

Key responsibilities include:
– Undertaking high-quality Viability Assessments, SGO assessments, and Connected Carer assessments
– Working collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency partners
– Contributing to permanence planning for looked-after children
– Maintaining accurate, timely case recording in line with local authority standards

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have substantial post-qualifying experience in children and families social work, with a demonstrable track record in kinship and fostering assessments.

This position is offered on a locum basis at a rate of £27.32–£37.54 per hour (via Prism), commencing 12 May 2026. The role is based on-site at 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW.
