Job Description

Semester Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Carer for a residential care home in Walthamstow (E17 9RX), working with older people aged 65 and over living with dementia. This is a locum role commissioned through the London Borough of Waltham Forest, paying £17.54–£22.79 per hour, starting 1 September 2026.

You will act as duty officer in charge of the care home, managing staff through supervision, training, and handovers, alongside maintaining a staff rota and allocating duties. Medication management is central to the role — ordering, administering, and processing returns — and you will be expected to uphold CQC standards throughout.

Shifts include weekends and bank holidays. You will need strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to write reports and correspondence, and confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. A sound understanding of health and safety and infection prevention and control is essential.

A minimum QCF (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care is required. If you have proven experience in a senior residential care role with older people and dementia, please apply or get in touch today.
