Job Description
Middlesbrough Borough Council is recruiting an experienced SEND Case Officer to join its outstanding SEND Assessment and Review Team, based at Middlesbrough House. Following a Grade 1 outcome at the Local Area SEND inspection in October 2023, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-performing team delivering a statutory service for children and young people across Middlesbrough.
You will hold an allocated caseload covering children newly referred for assessment, those undergoing the statutory assessment process, and children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) requiring regular review. You will monitor progress, manage data effectively, and work in line with the SEND Code of Practice and its statutory milestones. Excellent report writing skills and a strong command of process-based working are essential.
The role requires confident multi-agency working — you will represent the team in a collaborative, open, and constructive manner with families and partners. Experience in Preparing for Adulthood (Post-16) is desirable.
This is a full-time post at 37 hours per week, paying £23.89 per hour. Primarily remote working will be considered, though occasional travel to the Middlesbrough office is preferable. Start date: 31 May 2026.
If you are passionate about making a difference for children and young people with SEND and bring the skills and experience this team deserves, we want to hear from you.
