Job Description
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Gazetteer and GIS Officer for a remote contract role starting 22 June 2026.
The primary purpose of the role is to maintain and update the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) and Local Street Gazetteer (LSG). This includes maintenance of the council’s address databases, creation and plotting of new streets and developments in accordance with statutory requirements, daily submissions to GeoPlace, and liaison with both GeoPlace and Ordnance Survey to ensure compliance with standards.
The role also involves providing GIS support to council staff and services, including plotting data on maps and creating map overlays for school catchment areas, area boundaries, and road traffic accident hotspots. You will respond to general enquiries from staff, members of the public, elected members, statutory bodies, and agencies relating to the LLPG and street naming and numbering.
Experience of updating the Land and Property Gazetteer and Local Street Gazetteer is essential. If you have the relevant gazetteer and GIS background and are available for a remote contract, please get in touch.
