Job Description
Calderdale Council is seeking an experienced Housing Support Worker based at Ryburn House, Halifax, for a temporary contract running from 31 August to 11 October 2026, paying £12.85 per hour.
This role sits within a front-line housing service supporting vulnerable individuals and families to move from temporary accommodation into more permanent options, including supported accommodation, social housing, and private rented accommodation. You will work with clients to ensure the right ongoing support is in place to sustain successful tenancies.
You will need proven experience working with people with complex needs, including mental and physical health issues, substance misuse, financial difficulties, and domestic abuse. Strong communication skills and a sound working knowledge of welfare benefits are essential. The role involves lone working — visiting clients across the borough — so a car driver with their own vehicle is required. You will also participate in a duty rota, handling front-line queries and identifying safeguarding concerns.
Candidates must be able to commute to Ryburn House daily and hit the ground running. Interviews will be held face to face at Ryburn House, Halifax, HX1 4SG.
