Job Description
Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Family Support Worker to join the Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team, based at One Avenue Road, Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU), with travel required across the city.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 5.15pm, with some requirement to work outside core hours. The pay rate is £15.84 to £20.46 per hour, starting 3 August 2026.
The primary focus of the role is facilitating and supervising safe family time (contact) between children in care and their birth families. Day-to-day responsibilities include safeguarding observation during contact visits, providing parenting guidance to ensure child-focused interactions, and maintaining accurate, timely case records. The worker will also contribute to early help assessments, multi-agency support planning, and wider duties across the CWD service.
Ideal candidates will have experience working with children, young people (particularly those with disabilities), and families in a support capacity, alongside some safeguarding knowledge. A Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience in health, social care, or community and family work is required. Strong communication, observation, and engagement skills are essential, as is the ability to manage and prioritise a complex caseload.
A DBS check will be required. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
