Job Description
Oldham Council is seeking an experienced, qualified Advanced Practitioner to join one of four teams within its Children in Our Care service, based at The Spindles, Oldham (OL1 1HD). This is a full-time role (5 days per week) paying £40 per hour, running from 24 August 2026 to 2 August 2027.
Working within a team of one Team Manager, one Advanced Practitioner, and up to six Social Workers, you will hold a manageable caseload of up to 15 children and young people in local authority care. Your responsibilities will include reviewing progress, developing care plans, and meeting the individual needs of children and young people — while retaining capacity to fulfil the broader Advanced Practitioner function.
In this senior practice role you will provide additional support to the Team Manager and Social Workers, including students and ASYEs. This encompasses organising and facilitating group reflective supervision, holding learning circles, chairing Care Planning meetings for children allocated to other team members, and offering one-to-one advice and targeted support as directed by the Team Manager.
The hybrid working model is normally three days office-based and two days working from home, subject to management agreement and service needs.
Note: suppliers must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions and attach the completed file to the candidate record prior to submission; applications that do not pass these questions will not be progressed.
To be considered you must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. If you are interested and available, please get in touch.
