Job Description
Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced EHCP Co-ordinator to join its SEND service, based in Birkenhead (CH41 2YA). This is a temporary role paying £27.00–£34.82 per hour via Prism, starting 15 June 2026.
You will act as the primary point of contact for parents, carers, and young people engaging in the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment process, co-ordinating statutory assessments and plans for children and young people aged 0–25. Working across education, health, social care, and the voluntary sector, you will prepare and facilitate meaningful reviews of EHC Plans, ensure compliance with statutory timetables under Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014, and support managers at SENDIST Tribunal hearings where required.
You will also mentor less experienced EHCP Co-ordinators and contribute to the development of SEN policy and procedure within the Council.
Essential requirements include a degree-level qualification, detailed knowledge of Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SENDIST procedures, and demonstrable experience working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, leading multi-agency meetings, and writing person-centred plans.
Teaching, SENCO qualifications, or evidence of continuing professional development in SEN are desirable. Candidates must be able to travel across the borough.
If you have the experience and knowledge to make a real difference for children and families with SEND in Wirral, please get in touch today.
