Job Description
Wigan Council is seeking an experienced Deputy Practice Manager to join a busy Family Help team based at The Meadows Family Hub, Ridyard Street, Wigan (WN5 9RQ). This is a temporary role running from 13 July to 5 October 2026, paying £22.64–£24.75 per hour (£28.86–£31.54 umbrella).
Working alongside a second deputy manager, you will each supervise approximately six Family Help Practitioners, with both deputies reporting to the Practice Manager. You will support the Practice Manager in leading and developing Family Help services, providing whole-family supervision, coaching, and guidance to practitioners.
Key responsibilities include overseeing complex cases, supporting effective decision-making, and ensuring safeguarding concerns are identified, assessed, and managed appropriately. You will monitor the quality of assessments, plans, and interventions, promote strengths-based and child-centred approaches, and work collaboratively with partner agencies including schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations. The role also encompasses workload management, case allocation, performance monitoring, quality assurance, and deputising for the Practice Manager when required.
