Job Description
Camden Council is seeking an experienced Customer Services Officer to join Contact Camden’s Contact Centre, based at 5 Pancras Square, London, N1C 4AG. This is a temporary role paying £18.41–£23.97 per hour, starting 1 June 2026.
As the first point of contact for residents and service users, you will provide high-quality advice and guidance across a broad range of council services — including people, place, and business service clusters — resolving enquiries at the first point of contact wherever possible. You will work seamlessly across multiple access channels including telephony, face-to-face, correspondence, and web, adapting proactively as customer demand shifts.
Key responsibilities include managing complex casework with a high level of skill, making sound frontline decisions, supporting entry-level Customer Service Officers, and contributing to service improvement initiatives. You will be expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of service changes and work collaboratively with Team Leaders, Heads of Service, and Learning & Development colleagues.
Successful candidates will have extensive customer service experience, familiarity with at least two service clusters, a clear understanding of integrated service delivery, and the ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment. Knowledge of public service principles such as customer focus and safeguarding is desirable.
This role may require travel to King’s Cross offices, Holmes Road, and other council sites. If you have a strong background in local government customer services and thrive in a busy contact centre environment, we would love to hear from you.
