Job Description

Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead their Intervention & Planning Team, covering Child Protection, Children in Need, and Long Term casework, based in Colindale, NW9.

This is an operationally and strategically significant role. You will hold day-to-day responsibility for the effective running of a qualified social work team, ensuring that children’s needs are assessed holistically and that appropriate, timely services are delivered in partnership with families and key stakeholders. You will report to a Head of Service and contribute to broader service development alongside the Assistant Director of Social Care.

Key responsibilities include professional supervision of social workers, case allocation, risk assessment, and decision-making regarding the immediate safety of children at risk of significant harm. You will manage complex casework creatively and effectively, develop specialist knowledge across CP, CIN, and long-term work, and maintain strong multi-agency relationships with health, education, police, and independent sector partners.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s services, including experience managing or supervising a team, is essential.

Rate: £31.78 – £43.72 per hour via Prism. Start date: 3 August 2026. To be considered, please apply without delay.
