Job Description
Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead its Intervention & Planning Team, covering Child Protection, Children in Need, and Long Term cases, based in Colindale, NW9.
You will hold day-to-day operational and financial responsibility for the team, providing professional leadership and supervision to staff while ensuring children’s needs are assessed holistically and in a timely manner. You will be accountable to a Head of Service for the delivery of a child-centred, legally compliant service, and will contribute to wider strategic development alongside the Head of Service and Assistant Director.
Key responsibilities include receiving, allocating, reviewing, and closing cases; assessing levels of risk and making decisions regarding the immediate safety of children at risk of significant harm; and ensuring services are delivered in genuine partnership with families and key stakeholders. You will supervise qualified practitioners, act as a specialist resource to colleagues, and develop effective relationships across statutory and independent sector agencies including schools, health, and police.
The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, with substantial children’s services experience across CP, CIN, and long-term casework, and demonstrable team management competence.
