Job Description

Are you a highly motivated and innovative Team Manager with a passion for supporting children and families? Wrexham’s Family Support Team (FST) is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead a dedicated team and help ensure the safety and wellbeing of children across the area.

The FST is a social work team supporting children and families open to Children’s Social Care. You will hold responsibility for a substantial staff team of 15 Social Workers, 3 Social Care Assessors, and 3 Assistant Team Managers — providing strong leadership, strategic oversight, and a supportive culture in which practitioners can develop and grow.

Key responsibilities include overseeing Care and Support Plans, management of Child Protection Plans, Public Law Outline work, and taking cases to first court hearing. You will ensure robust support is provided to families and children, with best outcomes at the heart of all practice decisions.

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England (or equivalent Welsh regulator), and have demonstrable experience in a children’s social care management role. Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and court processes is essential.
