Children’s Social Worker – Safeguarding and Support – #OR100421

April 23, 2026
£24 - £33 / hour

Job Description

Are you a passionate, qualified Social Worker ready to make a genuine and lasting difference to children and families in Herefordshire? This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of six Safeguarding and Support teams working across three locality offices — South, North, and Central — covering Hereford, Ross on Wye, and Leominster.

In this role you will work directly with children, young people, and their families, building trusting relationships, providing early help, and taking decisive, child-centred action when required. Herefordshire is on an exciting improvement journey in partnership with Leeds City Council, investing heavily in restorative and relational practice — meaning you will receive genuine management support, regular reflection, and meaningful professional development.

Each team comprises a Team Manager, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, and Family Support Workers. Senior managers are always accessible for guidance on complex cases, and the locality model offers the flexibility of some home working whilst keeping you connected to your colleagues.

Key responsibilities include assessment, planning and delivering interventions; safeguarding casework; supporting families to overcome challenges with the child’s voice at the centre; and contributing to a collaborative, inclusive, and creative team culture.

Candidates must be registered with Social Work England and hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, or CQSW), with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience.

The role offers £30.57 per hour (umbrella), 45p per mile business mileage, and up to £150 per week accommodation allowance, working 37 hours per week.

If you are resilient, reflective, and committed to safeguarding, apply now and join Herefordshire’s next chapter.
