Job Description

Darlington Borough Council is seeking an experienced Social Work Manager to lead its Fostering and Kinship Care Team on a locum basis, based at the Town Hall, Darlington (DL1 5QT).

This role centres on the assessment, supervision, and support of Fostering Social Workers within the team. You will provide confident, hands-on management to a specialist fostering and kinship care service, ensuring high standards of practice and positive outcomes for children and families.

The role is offered at £36.61 per hour, with a start date of 7 June 2026.

To be considered, you must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience in a management capacity within children’s social care, ideally with a background in fostering or kinship care.
