Job Description

Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Agency Social Worker to join a busy Children’s Social Work Team based at Newton Aycliffe One Point Hub, DL5 4HX. This is a fast-paced statutory role paying £28.42 per hour, available from 1 June 2026.

You will carry a varied, child-focused caseload encompassing statutory assessments, care planning, and robust safeguarding and risk management for children and families. Day-to-day responsibilities include completing assessments, developing and reviewing care plans, attending child protection conferences and reviews, working collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners, and preparing accurate records and court reports.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with a solid grounding in children’s legislation and safeguarding practice. You will be resilient, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary network.
