Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Agency Social Worker to join Knowsley Council’s Children Looked After (LAC) service on an ongoing, full-time contract. Hybrid working is on offer — 3 days office-based at Westmorland Road, Huyton, and 2 days from home. Rate: £23.75–£31.15 per hour. Start date: 22 June 2026.

You will manage a varied caseload encompassing children subject to care proceedings, children in care, care planning, permanence and pathway planning, preparing court reports, and working collaboratively with legal services and partner agencies.

Knowsley Council is recognised as a highly supportive local authority. You can expect regular reflective supervision, an approachable management team, a strong team ethos, and well-structured services with clear processes — all underpinned by a genuine commitment to good social work practice.

To be considered you must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience in Children Looked After work and court proceedings is essential, alongside strong assessment, planning, and court report writing skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-agency setting.
