May 18, 2026
£22 - £30 / hour

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join the Adoption Service at Lincolnshire County Council on a locum basis, paying £22.20–£29.98 per hour.

This is a varied and rewarding role within a busy team managing adoption and SGO services across the large county of Lincolnshire. The post is primarily focused on completing assessments and providing support to prospective adoptive parents, as well as delivering post-adoption and SGO support to families. Travel across the county is required.

Key responsibilities include presenting at adoption panel, attending court proceedings, building and maintaining relationships with adoptive parents, and applying a thorough understanding of the trauma and attachment needs of children who cannot live within their birth families. A sound working knowledge of the Adoption Agency Regulations and the Adoption Support Services Regulations 2005 is essential.

The office base is flexible — Lincoln, Sleaford, or Louth — with a minimum expectation of two office days per week. Candidates must be analytical report writers with excellent time management skills and a strong safeguarding ethos.

Experience in adoption as a supervising social worker, in post-adoption support, or in a kinship support role is highly desirable. Therapeutic experience or qualifications would be advantageous.
