Childrens Senior Social Worker – Ferryhill Families First Team – #5300933

July 17, 2026
£33 - £33 / hour

Job Description

Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Ferryhill Families First Team, based at Ferryhill One Point Hub, DL17 8AN. This is a locum role paying £32.73 per hour, available from 26 July 2026.

This is a rewarding and varied role working with children and families in need of help and protection. Using a Signs of Safety practice model in a strengths-based, relational, and trauma-aware way, you will work alongside families to build safety plans and networks with the child’s voice at the centre of all you do.

You will hold a mixed caseload spanning Child in Need, Section 47 enquiries, Child Protection, and some private and public law proceedings, supporting children to remain safely within their families and to thrive. This role is fundamentally about relationships, communication, engagement, and helping families manage risk effectively.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable post-qualifying experience in children and families work. Experience with Signs of Safety or comparable strengths-based models is desirable.
