Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Childrens Senior Social Worker to join the Families First Team based at Seaham One Point Hub, SR7 8QE, working for Durham County Council.
This is a non-case-holding role focused solely on court-ordered assessments within Children and Families Services, supporting robust decision-making for the courts. You will complete Child and Family Assessments and undertake Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection) enquiries, preparing court reports and attending hearings as required.
Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and reviewing care and support plans; identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns; attending child protection conferences, core groups, and reviews; and working directly with children, young people, and families to assess needs. You will liaise with multi-agency partners across health, education, and the police, and maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and statutory documentation.
The role is offered via Comensura at a rate of £32.73 per hour, starting 8 June 2026. Social Work England registration and a recognised social work qualification are essential.
If you are an experienced children’s social worker with a strong assessment background and court experience, please get in touch today.
