Job Description

Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Independent Reviewing Officer to join the Children’s Safeguarding & Review Service, based at Moss Side District Office, Manchester (M16). This is a locum role paying £40 per hour, available from 6 July 2026.

As a Safeguarding Reviewing Officer, you will oversee planning for children who are subject to child protection plans, working collaboratively with children, their families, and partner agencies to drive better outcomes and advocate best practice in children’s planning.

The team is described as large, dynamic, and supportive, with flexible working, high morale, and opportunities to contribute to strategic work across the service. Management is described as approachable and supportive.

Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ post-qualifying social work experience in a statutory setting, alongside demonstrable leadership experience. Social Work England registration is essential.
