Childrens Advanced Practitioner – Practice Improvement – #000B16581

June 2, 2026
£40 - £40 / hour

Job Description

Bolton Council is seeking a Childrens Advanced Practitioner (Practice Improvement Officer) to drive and influence social care practice standards across children’s services in Bolton, working under the GM Collaboration framework.

This is a hybrid full-time post (37 hours per week) based at Castleton Street, Tonge Moor, Bolton, paying £40 per hour. The role runs from 7 July to 11 September 2026, with free on-site parking.

You will lead practice improvement activity informed by audit findings, designing and delivering breakfast briefings, lunchtime learning sessions, and staff engagement events. You will provide coaching to practitioners, share learning materials, and support Bolton’s career entry and progression pathways — including apprenticeships, Frontline, and Greater Manchester’s Return to Social Work programme. A key focus is embedding a shared understanding of quality practice through relational and restorative approaches and embedding a continuous learning culture across the workforce.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have post-qualifying experience in statutory social work. A Practice Educator qualification or supervisory experience is preferred. Strong IT skills are required.

Candidates must be able to work from the Bolton office to meet service needs. References and DBS will be requested as part of the offer process. If you are a passionate and reflective practitioner committed to improving outcomes for children and families, please apply.
