Job Description

Semester Recruitment is seeking an experienced Business Support Manager for a finance transformation contract with the London Borough of Lambeth, based at Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton (SW2 1RW). Rate: £208.50–£282.65 per day. Start date: 1 June 2026. Sourced via Prism.

Reporting to the MTFS Delivery and Finance Improvement Programme Manager, you will lead and deliver a council-wide expenditure control process, embedding robust governance and spending oversight arrangements across all service directorates. You will manage one direct report (PO1 Business Support Officer).

Key responsibilities include leading finance transformation projects as directed by the Corporate Director of Finance, building stakeholder relationships to embed spending compliance, tracking and reporting on council expenditure on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, producing guidance for service directorates, and facilitating workshops to promote sound spending practices.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or hold a relevant professional qualification, with a project management qualification (e.g. Prince2) desirable. You will have demonstrable experience delivering complex projects in a local authority or similarly complex political environment, a track record of senior stakeholder engagement, and experience producing performance reports and dashboards.
