Job Description
Manchester City Council is seeking an Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Support Officer to join the Community Safety, Compliance and Enforcement Service within the Growth and Neighbourhoods Directorate. Based at the Town Hall Extension, Lloyd Street, Manchester (M2 5DB), this is a temporary role running from 28 July to 31 December 2026, paying £18.16 per hour (umbrella rate £23.10).
This is a visible, community-facing role at the heart of Manchester’s approach to tackling anti-social behaviour. You will apply a harm-centred approach to casework, identifying victims and perpetrators, assessing vulnerability, and making appropriate referrals. Day-to-day duties include delivering on-street community safety interventions alongside police colleagues, issuing Community Protection Warnings and Notices, engaging positively with perpetrators to promote compliance, and accurately recording all interventions. You will also drive the partnership community safety van and represent the team at internal and external events.
Working within an integrated neighbourhood management model, you will collaborate with the police, fire service, voluntary and community sector, business forums, and other Council teams.
Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, active listening, empathy, and assertiveness, along with a sound understanding of ASB legislation. Experience with ICT systems for case recording is essential. You must hold a full driving licence, be comfortable engaging with people in community settings, and be flexible to work shifts between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday.
