Job Description
Bromley Council is seeking a qualified Adults Social Worker to join the Orpington & The Crays Locality Team within Adult Social Care, based at Churchill Court, Bromley. This is a community-facing role working with vulnerable adults to promote independence, manage risk, and deliver high-quality, person-centred support.
You will carry out strength-based assessments under the Care Act 2014, formulate and implement care and support plans, and undertake safeguarding enquiries. The role also involves applying the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to determine capacity and make best interest decisions, with the expectation that you will either hold or be willing to train as a Best Interest Assessor (BIA).
Key responsibilities include duty participation, commissioning appropriate services, chairing safeguarding and planning meetings, reviewing individual care plans, and maintaining accurate case records. You will work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary and inter-agency partnerships, representing the department as required.
Applicants must hold a Social Work degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent, and be registered with Social Work England. Experience working with adults in community or hospital settings is essential, along with sound knowledge of adult social care legislation.
This is a temporary locum engagement paying £24.51–£32.00 per hour, starting 22 June 2026. The role is sourced via Prism — MATRIX COMPLIANT candidates are strongly preferred.
To be considered, please apply with your up-to-date CV and current SWE registration details.
