Job Description
Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking an experienced Adults Social Worker to join the Longer Term Care Service Team, based in Barry, CF63 4RU. This is a community-based role working with adults who are vulnerable through illness, disability, or age-related frailty, supporting citizens to achieve personal outcomes through a strength-based and recovery-focused approach.
You will hold a complex caseload, undertaking assessments and reviews in accordance with statutory duties including the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act. Working in co-production with citizens and carers, you will plan, commission, and monitor care and support packages, negotiating resources with internal and external partners across statutory and voluntary sectors.
At Grade 9 level, you will have over three years of post-qualifying experience, routinely managing complex cases and producing rigorous practice reports. You will provide supervision, coaching, and mentoring to colleagues and students, and there is an expectation of willingness to pursue further qualifications such as AMHP, BIA, or DoLS Assessor.
Requirements: recognised social work degree (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent), registration with Social Care Wales, a full valid driving licence, and the ability to travel across the Vale of Glamorgan. Welsh language communication skills are desirable.
