Job Description

Slough Borough Council is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join its Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities (CTPLD), based at 25 Windsor Road, Slough. This is a locum position paying £24.48–£32.80 per hour via Prism, with a start date of 25 May 2026.

You will hold a caseload of complex cases, undertaking assessments of risk, need, and mental capacity, and supporting service users to complete self-assessments and make informed choices about their care. Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing care plans and support packages, applying knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Continuing Health Care, and safeguarding practice, and ensuring financial competency in relation to support planning and Slough Borough Council’s charging policy.

You will liaise with a broad range of professionals — including health, housing, NRS Equipment Service, and home improvement agencies — contributing to integrated care delivery. You will also oversee Telecare assessments, ensure safe use of equipment and adaptations, and participate in the duty rota as required.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Strong working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, CHC, and adult safeguarding frameworks is essential. Experience within a learning disabilities or CTPLD setting is highly desirable.
