Job Description
Slough Borough Council is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join its Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities (CTPLD), based at 25 Windsor Road, Slough (SL1 2EJ). This is a locum role paying £24.48–£32.80 per hour via Prism, starting 8 June 2026.
Working within the Learning Disability Team, you will hold a complex caseload, undertaking assessments of risk, need, and mental capacity, and supporting service users to complete self-assessments and exercise informed choice over their care. You will develop and review care plans and packages in line with Council policy, manage safeguarding enquiries, and ensure financial competency in relation to support planning and SBC charging.
A sound working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Continuing Health Care, and safeguarding practice is essential. You will liaise with health, housing, and social care professionals across integrated care teams, contribute to Telecare safety planning, and provide guidance to staff and students as required. Participation in the duty rota is expected.
Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience in adults’ learning disability services is strongly desirable.
