*Adults Social Worker – Community North Team – #000B1C001

Job Description

Trafford Council are seeking an experienced Adults Social Worker to join their integrated Community North Team, based at Trafford Town Hall, Manchester (M32 0TH). This is a maternity cover contract running from 3 August 2026 to 31 July 2027, paying £30 per hour via XMS.

The North Team works with adults across a range of complex situations, including long-term conditions, dementia, hoarding, drug and alcohol misuse, and adults at risk. You will carry a varied caseload, conducting strengths-based and person-centred social work assessments and interventions, securing appropriate funding in line with the Reshaping Trafford Policy, and contributing to a duty rota to respond to individuals in crisis.

Safeguarding is central to the role; you will lead and respond to safeguarding enquiries in accordance with the Care Act and local policy. You will build effective multi-disciplinary relationships across health and social care, and contribute to a collaborative, peer-supportive team culture.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have a minimum of three years’ post-qualifying experience in statutory adult social care. A strengths-based, outcomes-focused approach and a strong commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults are essential.

Flexible working arrangements and regular professional supervision are offered. Three years’ references and employment history checks are required.
