Job Description

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced agency Senior Practitioner to join their Kinship Assessment Team, based in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU). The role is available from 28 June 2026 at a rate of £24.52–£33.31 per hour via Prism/Matrix.

This is a dedicated and passionate social work team led by experienced senior leaders, committed to supporting, advising, and guiding prospective kinship carers in line with the Trust’s commitment to keeping children within their families. The service delivers a robust, fast-paced, and thorough assessment service encompassing Form K Kinship Fostering and SGO assessments.

As Senior Practitioner, you will bring proven experience in kinship assessments and court work, supporting a team of Senior Social Workers to drive the service forward. Responsibilities include quality assuring kinship assessments and support plans to ensure they are robust, evidence-based, timely, outcome-focused, and effective in keeping children safe. You will foster a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice, embed and continually improve social work practice at team level, and provide professional advice across the Trust on kinship carer assessments.

Full compliance documentation must be submitted via Matrix at the point of candidacy, including a verbal reference form, which is a mandatory requirement for this role.
