Job Purpose:

To work with service users with learning disabilities to enable them to fulfil their person centred plans, promoting positive outcomes and maximise independence.

Job Context:

The Community Living Service is a 24 hour/ 365 day residential service in ordinary houses to adults who have profound learning disabilities. Within such as service there is a range of individual needs which will include challenging behaviour, communication difficulties and come people we support have brain injuries. The consequences of this means that some service users will need substantial help with their personal care as well as supervision having regard to the understanding of risk.

The Community Living Service is regulated by the Domiciliary Care Agencies (Wales) Regulations 2004 and their accompanying National Minimum Standards. Individual workers within the service are required to register as Social Care Workers with the Care Council for Wales.

The service is currently based in ordinary houses in which 1 or more service users who are the tenants of the properties and are cared for by a small group of staff. There is a minimum number of staff required within the house having regard to he needs and activities of the service users.

This is a 148 hour per 4 week period contract. Working hours will be in accordance with the rota and this will include evenings, nights and weekends. Any work during unsociable hours will attract enhancements in line with the local agreement.

You must have:

  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
